No excavation project is complete until the area is properly backfilled and restored. That said, the quality of the restoration is directly dependant upon the means used to backfill your project. Excav owns a range of the highest quality/capability compaction machines available.

Operable compactors consist of an off-road Dynapac CA-25 premier duty soil compactor for road and parking lot work. The CA-25 can compact up to 2’ lifts to more than 90% density. Excav also owns an Ingersol-Rand DD25 vibratory asphalt roller for small asphalt areas, drives, and soil compaction over larger areas. For trench and utlity, Excav purchases only Wacker brand compactors for their high output and quality. Plate compactors start at the 8-HP unit weighing in at 160 KG and move up to a 35-HP diesel which weighs 1360 KG. We also run a BS 600 “jumping jack” model. Although light in weight (the only compactor in the fleet which can be 2 man carried) these machines are unparalleled in trench compaction.

Compaction equipment can, of course, be rented, but when your excavator owns, understands the capabilities of and takes pride in its compaction fleet the results are of a far higher quality and security.
